Who should attend the Tomatis Training Program?

Professionals like psychologists, speech and occupational therapists, teachers, voice and singing teachers, language teachers can now implement the Tomatis Listening Program in their practice in Australia, New Zealand, Islands of South Pacific and South East Asia.
The Tomatis Method is at the crossroads of LISTENING & COMMUNICATION.
It all depends on what you intend to use it for.
The General Introductory Course (GIC) is designed for the general public, as well as professionals who are interested in learning more about this unique method of listening therapy. It is also a pre-requisite course for those who wish to continue training to become a Tomatis Listening trainer or Consultant.
To train as a Tomatis Listening trainer, you do not need any formal qualifications in related fields. However it is essential that you have good interpersonal skills; have experience working with children, or can relate well to them.
To train as a Certified Tomatis Listening Consultant, it is preferable to have qualifications in related professions such as psychology, teaching, speech pathology, occupational therapy, teaching music or foreign languages. It is essential to be already trained and to have had some experience in counseling.
What is the first step of the Tomatis Training Program?
GIC General Introductory Course (16 hours)
This is a 2-day overview of the Tomatis Method. This course provides a wide coverage of the history, principles, and applications of the authentic Tomatis Method.
It is open to the general public as well as the professionals who then can:
- train to implement it in their own work
- refer their clients to one or several practitioners of the Tomatis Listening Program
- undergo a research project (master, thesis)

What happens after the General Introductory Course?
For people who desire to continue the Tomatis Training Program to become a Listening trainer or Tomatis Consultant, the following describes the complete training and apprenticeship program.
TP2 Theory of the Tomatis Method & Practice (24 hours):
This is a 3-day overview that covers the theory and use of the Tomatis ListeningProgram.
SP1 Practical Training Apprenticeship 1 (80 hours minimum):
Hands-on experience in using all the Tomatis Equipment for the Tomatis Listening Program.
TP3 Theory of the Tomatis Method & Practice (40 hours):
This is a 5-day overview for candidates who will practice the interview, analyse and explain the Listening Test, establish programs under the Electronic Ear, and theoretical practice using case studies. This course is only open to future Tomatis Consultant.
SP2 Practical Training Apprenticeship 2 (100 hours min.):
Training for hands-on practice of consultation, performing assessments, interpretations of the listening test, case studies, role-plays and writing programs.
CAV Audio Vocal Course (compulsory for Listening trainers and Tomatis Listening Consultants)
This includes a theoretical course about the singing voice, as well as workshops for the vocal practice. This course should be undertaken after completing the Tomatis Listening Program, subject to the availability of our audio-vocal trainer.
Tomatis Listening Program (62 hours):
This is a 60 hour program divided into two parts of 15 days, 2 hours a day or 15 + 8 +8 days. This takes you through the entire Tomatis auditory training with the Electronic Ear.
The Listening Program should be started as soon as possible before the S1 course.
What Certification is given at the end of training? |
Upon successful completion of all of the requirements for each level, The Australian Tomatis Method will present a certificate, which will give the participant the right to apply the Tomatis Method in a professional capacity, in a named field and at a specific location. The Listening trainer Certificate allows a person to assist in a legitimate Tomatis Practice. The Tomatis Listening Consultant Certificate allows a person to have access to the Tomatis Equipment, subject to the signature of the sub-licensing contract. Trademarks and patents protect The Tomatis Method. |
