Here is what some people had to say about the Tomatis
Method:
"My daughter is expressing herself much more clearly
and is more animated when she speaks. She seems to have
more confidence in her ability to express herself. Her
verbal expression is more fluent with clearer sounds and
more expression in her voice and face. About memory, she
is recalling things from the past and making connections
with events and people. She is attempting new words, completing
sentences all of which she found difficult before."

"Our daughter is more relaxed within herself. We feel
she now accepts herself better. She is more inquisitive
again, more the way she was as a very little child. She
is more settled, older somehow. Better relationship with
me and playing chess with her brothers. Asking about some
more complex words. Handwriting generally much neater.
Taking out encyclopedia and finding information. Has changed
some friends, choosing more confident girls. Now kissing
me goodbye: never before. She is much more talkative within
the family and more in tune with her moods. I am much
less anxious. It is much easier for me to get to places
on time. There seems to be more time in the days for me.
My daughter seems more relaxed, self confident."
Mother of a 12 year old girl, having trouble with reading
and writing, Sydney, Oct. 1996
"Since Brodie has done the Tomatis Program, he is more
relaxed, and more focused on learning. He is now attempting
to pronounce words and singing a lot of rhymes at school.
Brodie is so much less frustrated and aggressive, which
makes him a happier boy."
Mother of a 4 year old autistic child, March 1997.
"My daughter was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome when
she was four, in 1995. Since that time we have undergone
intensive "therapy", speech and occupational, and she
attended an early intervention centre for 12 months prior
to attending school.
We are currently in the final stages of a 5 week program
of the Tomatis Method (Jan-Mar 97) which has involved
2 hours/day, 5 days a week.
During the course of the program I have noticed small
but noticeable changes in several areas:
-
Physical: Her co-ordination has improved,
she has a better sense of balance and her handwriting
has improved.
-
Emotional: She has become "empathetic" and
seems to enjoy the company of her siblings more.
-
Social: She is better able to participate
in family discussion and respond appropriately.
Overall, I feel my daughter has more confidence in her
ability to function in her environment, which has lead
to an increased self-esteem. Reading tasks and drawing
are now more readily embarked.
